#81- Addiction, Recovery, and Advocacy (with Todd Rennebohm)
This week, we are joined by mental health advocate and podcast host, Todd Rennebohm. Before Todd began working in the mental health space, he was heavily struggling with an alcohol addiction. But, like many, he didn’t realize how serious it was. In this episode, he shares his story with mental illness, explains how it was affecting different areas of his life, and highlights how difficult the road to recovery can be. After several attempts at getting help and experiencing many bumps along the way, Todd landed in a 28-day treatment program that ultimately changed his life. He wrote a children’s book, began advocating for mental health, and is now in his 6th year of sobriety. Todd’s story is complex, authentic, and incredibly inspiring. I hope that anybody listening to this will take away the message that: recovery is possible and hard work pays off! Trigger warning: self-harm, suicide, and addiction are talked about in this episode. Please ensure that you are in the right headspace to consume this content before listening to this conversation.
