Join Jason Parker, AI copywriting expert and mastermind creator, along with Scott Zetlan, a pro in conversion rate optimization. They dive into the surprising capabilities of AI in copywriting, highlighting how it can drastically cut down content creation time. The duo discusses what AI can—and cannot—achieve, and the unexpected ways it can elevate copy. They emphasize the importance of maintaining a unique brand voice while leveraging AI tools, revealing how this technology can enhance, rather than replace, creativity.
AI significantly reduces the time required for copywriting tasks, allowing creators to produce high-quality content in days instead of weeks.
Effective AI utilization hinges on developing a framework that preserves the unique voice of the copywriter while maximizing creativity and engagement.
Deep dives
The Transformative Power of AI in Copywriting
AI has revolutionized the speed at which copywriting tasks can be completed, significantly reducing the time it takes to produce effective sales copy. Examples shared illustrate that projects which would typically require weeks of effort can now be accomplished in just a few days, allowing copywriters to handle increased workloads without compromising quality. For instance, one participant noted they could create engaging social media posts, which previously took hours, in a mere 15 minutes using AI. This substantial time reduction enables copywriters to focus on refining their strategies and outcomes rather than spending excessive amounts of time on writing.
Frameworks Over Templates for Authentic Voice
Utilizing AI effectively requires the establishment of a framework that maintains the copywriter's unique voice rather than relying solely on templates that can stifle creativity. The key to successful AI-generated copy lies in giving the AI clear parameters and guidelines, allowing it to generate content that feels genuine and fits the writer's style. Frameworks help to achieve outputs that resonate with readers while avoiding generic, easily identifiable AI-produced copy. This approach ensures that the final product reflects the copywriter's distinct tone and personality.
Understanding AI as an Assistant
Approaching AI as a helpful assistant rather than a standalone content creator is essential for successful outcomes in copywriting. This perspective enables writers to leverage AI's capabilities while still infusing their personal insights and expertise into the work. Learners are encouraged to develop their foundational understanding and provide specific instructions to the AI, which can then generate content that aligns with their vision and intended message. This collaborative method fosters creativity and allows for more nuanced and engaging copy that effectively communicates to the audience.
Front-Loading Efforts for Efficient Editing
The initial stages of working with AI should involve thorough preparation to ensure the generated copy aligns with the writer's expectations, minimizing the need for extensive editing later. Properly configuring AI tools requires front-loading essential information and guidelines, which streamlines the editing process and can significantly enhance overall productivity. By providing clear instructions and examples, copywriters can achieve a final piece that needs minimal revision, thus saving time and energy. This efficient approach transforms the editing phase into a valuable opportunity for strategic improvements rather than a time-consuming chore.
Four months ago, I was completely skeptical about AI and how it would ever fit into copywriting. I saw a post on LinkedIn by Brian Halpin, a copywriter working in Jason Parker’s agency. Brian talked about some unbelievable results, nearly one million in sales, that they had gotten with a VSL that was 80% written by AI.
I’ve known Jason for more than 10 years, and Brian’s post piqued my interest. Jason agreed to come onto the podcast to talk about what he was doing.
Nathan insisted we bring Jason on again to explain further, and after the second show, Nathan and I were so astonished by what he was saying that we both signed up for his Jason’s AI Copywriting Mastermind.
I have found it was a risk worth taking. Because I have learned so much about what is possible, including for me, that I’ve completely changed my mind about AI and the future of copywriting.
Now that we’ve had a lot more experience with results, we wanted to bring Jason back along with Scott Zetlan, another returning champion to the show, to bring you up to date on what we’ve learned about
- What AI can do with copywriting
- What AI can NOT do with copywriting
- And most importantly, what AI CAN do that we NEVER thought it would do.
For today’s special edition of the podcast, Nathan is going to lead the show and interview the three of us, so I’ll get a chance to talk about what I’ve learned.
4 points cover:
1. How much time it saves in creating copy and content
2. How we’re making the AI an extension of our brains – writing in our voice, creating an experience of writing like it’s the person who’s operating it
3. How long it takes to write a sales letter that converts, that would normally take a good copywriter 2-3 weeks to write
4. The dangers of “having a conversation” with AI to develop your hook, structure, idea, pitch
5. How much editing the AI’s output requires
