Joe Whittinghill is Corporate Vice President of Talent, Learning and Insights at Microsoft. As an experienced talent and OD leader, Joe played a critical role in assisting in the cultural transformation at Microsoft.
Led by CEO Satya Nadellla, Microsoft went on a journey to shift it’s culture from a “know it all” to a “learn it all” mindset, and critical to this was redefining leadership at Microsoft, as well as their expectations for managers inside their organization.
In this conversation, Joe spoke about the journey of Microsoft’s cultural transformation, and the importance of defining leadership behaviors and frameworks to empower their managers to lead teams in a digital world of work. Joe also spoke about how Microsoft redefined expectations for their people managers, how they try to develop a consistent framework and approach to management across their entire organization as well as how they encourage and employees to lead regardless of their title, rank and role.
