Established in the wake of the global financial crisis, the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) promotes  the implementation and use of the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI). GLEIF is a supra-national not-for-profit organisation headquartered in Basel, Switzerland. Originally aimed at the derivatives market, the use cases for the LEI have mushroomed, as Alexandre Kech, Chief Executive Officer of GLEIF explains to Robin Amlôt of IBS Intelligence.
