E171: Using Technology to do the Impossible with Mick Ebeling

Mick Ebeling is an author, entrepreneur, philanthropist, executive producer, and founder of Not Impossible Labs, a company dedicated to changing the world through creating technology for the sake of humanity.

Winner of the 2014 Muhammad Ali Humanitarian of the Year award, Mick has also been listed in the Time Magazine Top Invention of the Year category – two times.

First, Mick and his team invented the EyeWriter, a low-cost device that enables paralyzed individuals to communicate and create art using only eye movements. Conceptualized in Mick’s living room, they originally developed the device for a paralyzed graffiti artist that enabled him to draw for the first time in 7 years.

Then Mick’s team went on to develop a 3-D-printed arm for Daniel, a kid whose arm got amputated from the war in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan, enabling Daniel to feed himself for the first time in 2 years.
