Steve Maxwell is a 5th degree black belt in Gracie jiu jitsu and it was an absolute honor to have him on our show today.
He’s a very interesting man. As somebody who has been working out in the gym religiously since 1998 and trained in Gracie jiu jitsu for 3 years earning a blue belt (not that that means anything) I can say that his unique approach to life, training, health and fitness was definitely not something I’ve ever been exposed to in that world.
Most people in that world are focused on the body as simply a machine.
Most people in that world eat for fuel and concern themselves with mundane and worn out concepts like fats, carbs and protein so that they can look a certain way.
We discussed his approach to training and fitness that includes natural movements, body weight training, kettle bell workouts where you swing these Russian weights around which provides functional strength.
He’s a unique individual and I hope you enjoyed this show!
