Zain tells us in this episode how her mother teachers her children to overcome the daily pressures of poverty, crime and prejudice and how with her relentless support her children exceed all expectations.

ZAIN EJIOFOR ASHER is the host of CNN’s One World With Zain Asher. Born in South London to Nigerian parents, she wrote this memoir as a tribute to her mother who raised her and her siblings alone after their father died in a tragic accident. Asher lives in New York City with her husband and two sons. She is a graduate of Oxford University and Columbia University.
