On this week’s episode we give into the temptation to keep exploring the underlying mythological motifs shared by the archetypal eagle and serpent while giving the occasional wink and nod to the alien overlord conspiracy theory that spirals out of it. During the free section of the show we take an in-depth look at the Greek god of healing to which medical professionals still take their Hippocratic Oath, the serpent baring son of Apollo named Asclepius. We discuss the myth of his birth, the interesting modes of dedication and worship at his temples, his emblematic rod entwined with a serpent, his inappropriately horny uncle Ixion, the flaming serpents of the Bible, and the ancient Egyptian perspective on the serpent - eagle dichotomy with some surprising links to popular culture. In the extended episode we discuss what the constellation of Ophiuchus, the serpent bearer has to do with the serpent of Genesis before exploring the symbolism of the Phoenix and finally comparing our findings in this series to a leak found on 4chan regarding the top secret military programs dedicated to monitoring the ongoing UFO threat, possible of Sumerian origin.
