Episode notes
Anchor New Habits To Daily Routines
- Identify an activity you already do daily to use as the anchor for a new habit.
- Use that existing routine as the trigger so the new behavior requires less willpower.
Use The "After I...I Will..." Formula
- Write a clear implementation intention using the formula "After I [blank], I will [blank]."
- Make the statement specific so the trigger and the action are unambiguous and repeatable.
Be Specific About When And Where
- Specify time, place, or cue for the habit, for example "after I brush my teeth, I will read 20 minutes."
- Adjust the cue to when you're most likely to succeed (morning, screen break, etc.).
