Bringing back a little old-school flavor this week my friend…

You see, a few years back, someone asked me this very simple question:

If you could give one piece of advice to a young coach or trainer, what would it be?

And needless to say, that one little question turned into one really long, in-depth podcast!

So with all the travel and things going on the past couple of weeks, I wanted to share this podcast again because I feel like it’s every bit as impactful today as it was then.

So without any further ado, let’s goooooooooo!

As a trainer, as a coach, we have to listen. Use your ears. Actively listen. When a client or athlete tells you something, verbalize back to them in similar – but not exact words – what they just said. They’re going to feel like you’re really hearing them.

This Week on the Physical Prep Podcast:

  • Why you should show up early to sessions.
  • Starting vs. Finishing
  • Why the old school mantra of “2 eyes, 2 ears, 1 month” is important for coaches
  • Ways to approach older coaches and ask for advice.
  • The “Be Where Your Feet Are” philosophy.
  • Why you should get comfortable being uncomfortable.
  • The value of working with clients of all shapes and sizes.
  • It’s NOT about YOU.
  • The role and value of mentors in your development (and how to find one).
  • Why you should be focused on becoming a great note-taker.
  • How “Beginners Mind” can help you constantly question your thought process – and evolve as a coach.
