Dialogos w/ John Vervaeke - Part 1: What is 'The Meaning Crisis'?

John Vervaeke is a “Psychology and Cognitive Science Professor, integrating science and spirituality to solve the ‘Meaning Crisis’.

I was introduced to his work through his 50-part series ‘Awakening from the Meaning Crisis’, in which John leverages his staggering familiarity and understanding of an enormous amount of the worlds philosophical, psychological, spiritual / religious, and historical literature, combined with his own insights and experiences, to put forward a contribution to the apparent ‘meaning crisis’ which much of the global culture faces today.

I not only share John’s conviction that we are currently confronting such a circumstance, but I’ve also been exploring and writing about the role which bitcoin may play in the emergence of a ‘solution’ to that ‘problem’.

In this first discussion, we don’t discuss bitcoin at all, but rather focus on identifying what the ‘meaning crisis’ is, and how we might have found ourself in this situation.

It’s my hope that this will be the first of several discussions with John, as it seems to me that he has much useful wisdom to share in my journey of attempting to discover and understand ‘deeper meaning’, and what role, if any, bitcoin is to play in it.
