It’s National Eating Disorder Awareness week! It’s time to share hope for recovery & it’s time to uplift & encourage all of you who may be battling this awful disease.

In today’s episode I share all the facts, truths & stats surrounding disordered eating & the impact of eating disorders on our society. I also share a special free gift just for listening to today’s show & spreading the word by sharing this episode with a friend or loved one.

Researchers believe:

8 million Americans have an eating disorder – seven million women and one million men
One in 200 American women suffers from anorexia
Two to three in 100 American women suffers from bulimia
Nearly half of all Americans personally know someone with an eating disorder (Note: One in five Americans suffers from mental illnesses.

According to Johns Hopkins, NEDA, ANAD & others, eating disorders are on the rise since Covid & they have no gender, ethnic, or socioeconomic prerequisite across those who struggle.

it’s important that you know today that eating disorders aren’t a choice, behavior problem, or lack of willpower. An eating disorder is an illness with biological & genetic roots that are influenced by culture, belief & IMO unfortunately social media!

If you didn’t know already, eating disorders have the highest mortality rate than any other mental health illness?! But why aren’t they talked about more?! I share all of this and then some in episode 23!

& while these statistics may be hard to hear, today’s message is to give you hope & to celebrate with you as you embark in your recovery journey.
