Lessons from Badwater 135: Run Better in Heat, Mindset Tips, and How to Improve Your Finish Times
Badwater 135 is one of the toughest ultramarathons in the world.
The race is a 135 mile footrace through Death Valley, California, where temperatures have gone up to 130+ degrees at times.
There is no shade on the course, it's extremely hot, and tests even the strongest of runners.
I was out at Badwater this year crewing and pacing, and I learned so many things from seeing the runners take on the course.
Some things we discuss on this podcast:
- How to run better in the heat
- How to prepare for hot races (even if you live somewhere cool)
- How to stay mentally strong, even when it gets tough
- Why you shouldn't worry about your age
- How to get adapted to the heat
- The one thing you can do to instantly improve your ultramarathon times
- And much more!
Thank you so much for listening!
