What does 'serving' in 'Hispanic-Serving Institution' or 'Minority-Serving Institution' really mean if you cannot measure how well students are being served in a variety of ways? Dr. Gina Garcia explains what 'servingness' means and how HSIs and MSIs are moving the needle forward in serving students in higher education. Dr. Garcia reminds us that it's not enough to diversify higher education governing boards, faculty, and staff. Governing boards, faculty, and staff must be trained to be equity minded.
