In the men's race, there are several top athletes who have a legitimate chance of winning. Tom Evans, known for his meticulous approach and professionalism, is considered a strong contender. Jim Walmsley, a consistent performer, is also expected to be a frontrunner. Other notable athletes to watch include Seth Ruling, Shenji Shen, and Luke Grenfell Shaw. The race is predicted to be more tactical due to the absence of certain athletes. Tyler Green and Hannes Namberger are also expected to do well in the competition.
The women's race presents an element of uncertainty and unpredictability. Ruth Croft, initially believed to be a strong opponent for Courtney DeWalter, unfortunately had to withdraw from the race. However, there are other contenders such as Mathilde Blondin, Esther Sisleg, and Ersilio Modrini, who could challenge DeWalter's dominance. Other promising athletes to watch include Alison Macdonald, Lee Yingling, and Martina Valmasoy. While DeWalter is seen as the clear favorite, it would be exciting to see other women close the gap and employ tactical strategies against her.
Welcome to Day 5 of Good Morning, Mont Blanc. This is the inaugural year of Freetrail’s daily morning show, kicking off with the 20th anniversary of the Ultra Trail Mont Blanc (UTMB), the most important global event in the sport of trail running. The show is hosted each day by professional athlete, Dylan Bowman.
Dylan is joined on Day 5 by OCC racers Dani Moreno, EmKay Sullivan and Francesco Puppi, who all had wildly different race experiences and outcomes.
Francesco had an incredible race at OCC, placing second overall. Both Dani and EmKay had tough days and didn’t finish.
Everyone talks about their races and the OCC course and race results in general. Then they pivot to watching and commentating on CCC live, and finally provide their preview for UTMB, which starts at 6pm tonight.
