Defining Remarkable People and Making a Difference
Being remarkable isn't about fame or wealth; Guy Kawasaki defines it as making a difference and contributing to a better world. Through his podcast and book 'Think Remarkable', he highlights the wisdom of 200 guests, focusing on transformative paths for personal growth and impactful change.
The Significance of Persistence and Self-Improvement
Achieving remarkable success involves persisting through obstacles and failures, embodying a growth mindset, and demonstrating grit. The journey towards distinction often requires a balance between professional success and personal fulfillment, emphasizing the importance of continuous self-improvement and learning.
Embracing Challenges, Learning from Failures, and Finding Grace
Cultivating a growth mindset extends beyond personal belief to creating a supportive environment that aligns with the principles of growth and resilience. Understanding the importance of self-forgiveness and embracing failures as learning opportunities are essential components of reaching remarkable achievements. Embracing grace involves giving back, supporting others' growth, and fostering a positive, growth-oriented community.
Valuing People and Embracing Vulnerability
Recognizing the importance of valuing everyone one meets as they may excel in areas beyond one's own expertise is highlighted. The podcast emphasizes the significance of humility and embracing vulnerability as signs of strength and confidence. It underscores the idea that showcasing weakness can actually demonstrate inner strength and encourages a shift towards valuing people and acknowledging the power of vulnerability.
Grit and Purpose in Achieving Remarkability
The discussion delves into the concept of grit and how it stems from a sense of purpose. By exploring the notion of alleviating pain as a key aspect of grit, the podcast emphasizes the significance of identifying what motivates and drives individuals. It stresses the importance of questioning fixed beliefs and finding purpose in addressing issues that evoke strong emotions, ultimately highlighting the potential for remarkable achievements through determination and purpose.
In this episode we’re delivering steps for you to stand out and be remarkable. So you don’t get lost in the shuffle of noise out there. To get much of anywhere today, we must be remarkable. But what does that mean? My guest defines it not as being famous or rich, having tons of followers or being a genius, but as making a difference. Making the world a better place. His podcast is actually called Remarkable People, and after having 200 amazing guests he’s curated tremendous wisdom in his new book, Think Remarkable: 9 Paths To Transform Your LIfe and Make a Difference. And he, is Guy Kawasaki. Guy is a Silicon Valley legend. If you look him up in Wikipedia it says: Guy Kawasaki is an American marketing specialist, author, and Silicon Valley venture capitalist. He was one of the Apple employees originally responsible for marketing their Macintosh computer line in 1984. He popularized the word evangelist in marketing the Macintosh as an "Apple evangelist" and the concepts of evangelism marketing and technology evangelism/platform evangelism in general. The Wikipedia source is interesting as Guy actually sat on the Wikimedia Foundation board of trustees for a time, which is the non-profit operating entity of Wikipedia. Guy has written 15 books and this is the third time I’ve had him on my show. Guy is a truly inspirational and wise guy. I dubbed this book, “Life’s Little Instruction Book For Aspiring People,” which you’ll hear Guy say he is going to steal and use. I’m honored. This conversation goes by quickly, it includes a lot of laughter, and an immense amount of wisdom from a truly, wise Guy. Next up…Guy Kawasaki and a guide to being remarkable.
