Born and raised in the Bay Area, she studied publishing at Emerson College in Boston and wrote for Brooklyn-based Mass Appeal magazine before returning to San Francisco, where she worked in marketing and publicity for City Lights Publishers—and once found a bag of Allen Ginsberg’s notebooks in a forgotten corner of the office.
