On this weeks episode I sit down to talk to Andrew McGhghy of Macomb High School. Andrew is the head track and field coach at the high school. He is also an assistant football coach and his newest role he just stepped into this year is that of head of strength and conditioning. We discuss his transition into this new role especially in light of the chaotic transition back to competitive sporting events due to Covid. We discuss the nuts and bolts of his programming and spend time discussing triphasic training, unilateral v bilateral in his programming as well as a variety of other issues. We take time to discuss his implementation of signal 6 and RPR and his rationale in utilizing these tools. We discuss his views on speed development and how he facilitates it among his athletes. We also take some time at the end of the show to talk about how he programs for throws. This is a really great episode that gives you a great perspective from someone that is in the trenches of high school S&C everyday. Andrew also has a great podcast of this own known as the coach growth podcast, he has some quality episodes and if you have time make sure to check it out. Don't forget to subscribe to keep up with all the latest content and leave a rating and review if you feel led to do so.
