Working with Athletes & Dry Needling

Jul 30, 2020
55:40

On this episode, Lee and Gray sit down with a longtime friend, Sue Falsone.

Sue was the first female head athletic trainer in any of the major American professional sports leagues as the Head A.T. for the Los Angeles Dodgers as well as the Head A.T. and Sports Performance Coach with the US Soccer’s Men’s National Team. She is also the author of Bridging the Gap: From Rehab to Performance and is the owner and founder of Structure & Function Education.

Today's episode is for the professionals, but can also be enjoyed by those wanting to go deeper in their knowledge of athletic training in pro sports and dry needling.

We get started with her career path and ascent to training elite athletes along with her use of the FMS screening system.

They talk about athletes’ incredible ability to compensate when they have “dysfunction” and the crucial importance of long term joint health and keeping to short term performance goals.

The second half of the episode explores Eastern medicine techniques and how to incorporate them into practice. Sue and the guys explain dry needling and how it resets the mind/body connection.

All of this and much more on today’s episode of the Movement Podcast-- powered by FMS.
