Marker explains that many companies lack a process for what happens after they acquire a new customer. He emphasizes the importance of making customers feel valued and welcomed. Marker's superpower is simplifying complex problems, and he believes that a shift in mindset is necessary for companies to see results. He notes that many sales leaders are stuck in the past and afraid to change. He was promoted to director of marketing and sales and customer service for two small companies, which led to his first book. Marker stresses that many companies are "screwed up" and that only a small percentage of people want to do something different.
