Ein Zitat, das viel mehr ist als ein Gedanke. Es ist ein Versprechen – an das Staunen, an die Tiefe, an die Möglichkeit, die Welt anders zu sehen. Es stammt von einem Künstler, der nicht laut war, aber kraftvoll. Der sich nicht dem Zeitgeist unterwarf, sondern einen eigenen Kosmos erschuf – leuchtend, meditativ, durchdrungen von Form, Farbe und Licht.

Die Ausstellung „Poesie des Lichts“ im Museum Frieder Burda widmet sich dem Werk von Richard Pousette-Dart – einem der stillsten, zugleich strahlendsten Vertreter des Abstrakten Expressionismus. Oder besser: einem Künstler, der sich jeder Einordnung entzog, um das Eigene, das Unteilbare zu finden. Seine Kunst geht weit über Kategorisierungen hinaus – sie ist spirituell, kontemplativ, radikal eigenständig.
Das Gespräch ist auf Deutsch und Englisch geführt – Charles Duncan spricht dabei in wunderbar klar verständlichem Englisch.

The exhibition “Poetry of Light” at Museum Frieder Burda celebrates the work of Richard Pousette-Dart – one of the quietest yet most radiant voices in Abstract Expressionism. Or rather: an artist who defied any label to express something truly original, spiritual, and uncompromisingly individual.
