Episode 56: Simone Anderson (Weight loss influencer)

Many of you will be hearing about Simone Anderson and her story for the first time here.

For many more, she is someone very familiar due to her regular and frequent social media content that she shares to her 314,000 followers on Instagram and 274,000 followers on Facebook.

The brief back story is this: In 2014, at 21 years old, Simone was 169kg and on a fast track to an early grave. She started documenting her weight loss journey through surgery on social media and went viral for it, appearing on the Tyra Banks TV show in the USA and numerous international websites.

This social media fame led her to become New Zealand’s first full-time “influencer.”

This conversation is Simone’s story- the good, bad, and the ugly: The triggers that lead her to be clinically obese in her early 20s, her decision to get surgery, going viral, becoming an influencer, meeting her now husband, becoming a mum, dealing with online trolls, some of the controversies she has been involved in and much much more.
