7 Simple Tips to Write Better Training Programs

Dec 10, 2021

One of the many things I’ve learned over the years about writing programs is that there’s a bell curve involved.

When we’re just starting out, we don’t know much about training, let alone actually designing a program.

But as we move closer to the apex of that bell curve and accumulate more experience as well as information on exercises, set/rep schemes, and tempos, the complexity of our knowledge base becomes our hindrance.

From “how do I design a program,” our question becomes “how can I make my programs more efficient and impactful for my clients?”

In this episode, I share seven simple tips to help you write and design better training programs that meet the needs of your clients and athletes.

I reveal three questions you need to ask yourself before sitting down to write your training programs.

I share superset strategies and explain why layering is one of my favorite tools in superset design.

And last but not least, I also explain what it means to “slow cook” your athletes and discuss how you can get yourself unstuck from the program design block.
