Dirk Smillie was chief content officer at Guggenheim Partners and is author of the book, The Business of Tomorrow, a biography of Harry Guggenheim (Pegasus, 2021). Prior to that he was a senior writer at Forbes magazine, covered media for the Christian Science Monitor and has been a contributor to Newsweek International, the New York Times Upfront and The Nation. He was a researcher at a media think tank at Columbia University and director of the News Research Group in New York. He is former chair of the news category for the Webby Awards and a Coro Fellow in public policy. He lives in Manhattan with his daughter, who started college this year. The Business of Tomorrow is his second business biography.
