Eighties icon Tony Hadley is one of pops greatest vocalists. He fronted Spandau Ballet; one of the biggest bands of the 1980s and sold over 25 million albums. Tony’s unmistakable voice was the soundtrack to our teenage years, and now as a solo artist he’s touring the world playing the bands famous anthems.
In this episode Tony opens up about his rise to fame in the heady days of the 80’s and the promise he made his grandma after seeing the casualties of cocaine. Tony reveals why Spandau Ballet disintegrated leading him to reluctantly quit, and why he’s never taken the adulation too seriously. If you love the 80’s you’ll love this chat, especially when Tony recalls getting plastered with Freddie Mercury before jumping on stage to perform with Queen, and having Princess Diana as a fan.
