In this talk I speak with Viquesi about his belief in Christianity. He says that he believes in Christianity because it helps him out in his daily life. I then use the Outsider Test for Faith, and the conversation got into the relative nature of truth. Viquesi says that truth is what we make it, at least when it comes to religion.
I wished I would have got into how interested he is personally in knowing that what he believes is true. If, hypothetically, he were wrong, would he want to know? Or I could have used the analogy he introduced about believing that your shoes will keep you safe, or your raincoat will keep you dry. If someone believed their raincoat would keep them dry, but then went outside in the rain and noticed that their clothes were getting drenched, should they alter their belief accordingly? If he found out he was wrong, would he change his belief?
Let me know what you think. As always, your feedback is welcome.
