

#11 Havkraft – what brings an expected teacher to work on wave energy? Interview with Geir Arne Solheim
Geir Arne, CEO and founder of Havkraft in Norway, is scared of waves, but has still developed and patented an unique technology that picks up different wave frequencies. It has taken more than 20 years, but now his company is ready for commercialization. Geir Arne does not have „an American feel good story“ to tell, but loves to challenge existing truths by asking questions – both to the outer world as well as how he show up in his own life.
Havkraft AS was founded in 2009 by Geir Arne Solheim. Fjord Invest Såkorn was the first professional investor in the company. Havkraft developed a highly efficient, simple, and scalable wave energy converter. In 2014, the company deployed a large scale power plant on a ship called MS Havkraft in the Stad Ocean in Norway. Havkraft is currently developing multiple platforms to meet demand for ocean energy worldwide.
About Geir:
Geir Arne planned to become a history teacher, but decieded in 1998 to develop wave technology in stead. He combines current technology with ancient knowledge and philosophy, as well as a strong belief in what is sustainable for future generations.
