On this week's solosode of The Red Light Report, I deliver a variety pack of information. One of the fun topics I randomly cover is about possibly my favorite non-negotiable adjuvant I take daily: astaxanthin. Ironically, the endless list of powerful benefits from this substance are secondary to sunlight exposure that stresses the algae, developing an orange goop — that goop is astaxanthin. So you could say the benefits derived from astaxanthin are thanks to the light from the sun!
I also review the history of light therapy and the interesting ride it has been on over the centuries: from The Golden Age to the Era of Darkness to the New Age of Light. The pendulum has swung both ways and, luckily for us, it is swinging back to the side of evolution, utility and appreciation for the healing benefits of light therapy. This is why we have seen such a surge in photobiomodulation, namely red light therapy.
Lastly, I cover the negative impact of light flicker, as it relates to our health. Decades and decades ago, it was thought that if light manufacturers increased the flicker rate so that it wasn't perceptible to the naked eye it wouldn't have a negative impact on our biology. However, we have learned that there can be insidious (or obvious) consequences of "invisible" light flicker, such as headaches/migraines, eye strain, decreased concentration and energy, mood and behavioral disorders and more. That is exactly why I made sure all BioLight panels have the lowest light flicker possible — the first red light therapy company to take that variable into consideration.
Learn lots, light up your health and enjoy!
