On this episode we talk about Americas first female serial killer and one of the most tragic stories of abuse and poverty you can imagine; this is Aileen Wournos. From the most dysfunctional and abusive upbringing, Aileen dragged herself out of her hometown and hitch hiked across America, partaking in loads of anti social behaviour; arrests; crimes and selling her body along the way.

Aileen's behaviour escalated and she began to take some sort of deadly revenge against the men who abused her and began killing her clients. She began a seemingly loving relationship with a woman and the cycle of murder, larceny, and fraud started in earnest. This is a story of someone who fell into a life that they couldnt escape and it eventually swallowed them entirely!

Arrested, tried and eventually executed Aileen Wournos is a harrowing tale of a wretched unfortunate soul who ended up being documented by film makers and immortalised as a tragic case of inescapable circumstance. We talk about this; what drove her to these crimes; her history and the proceedings of her case; and the sociological theories behind someone in her unenviable position.
