Deep dives
The Power of Flow and Trusting Life
Flow is a state of mind where we are fully absorbed and joyful in what we are doing, and it is available to all of us. By making tasks slightly more challenging, breaking them into sub-tasks, being present in the moment, and striving for excellence, we can achieve a state of flow. Additionally, the feminine flow involves letting go and trusting life to take us where we need to be. We must trust our gut feelings and intuition, as life often knows better than our limited scope of the world. Life is a quest, not a predetermined journey, and by making micro adjustments and flowing with life, we can find joy and fulfillment.
Understanding and Navigating Grief
Grief is an incredibly painful experience, but it is a journey that must be embraced and fully felt. While we cannot change the pain caused by loss, we have a choice in how we respond to it. We can choose to linger in the pain and suffering, or we can accept that grief is a part of life and commit to making our lives better despite its presence. It is important to recognize that pain and suffering are not the same, and suffering is a choice that we can choose to let go of by shifting our perspective and finding acceptance. Through this process, we can gradually move towards healing and find a path to happiness.
Finding Flow and Managing Stress
Flow is a state where we are fully engaged and immersed in what we are doing. We can achieve flow by challenging ourselves just enough, breaking tasks into smaller parts, being present in the moment, and striving for excellence. Additionally, managing stress involves the three Ls: limit, learn, and listen. We must limit the stressors in our lives, learn to handle stress better, and listen to our bodies and intuition. By embracing these practices, we can navigate stress and find a more balanced and contented state of being.
Understanding the Language of Stress
The podcast discusses the concept of stress and how it manifests in different forms such as mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual stress. It highlights the importance of recognizing and understanding the language that our mind, emotions, body, and spirit are speaking to effectively address and resolve these stresses. By learning to interpret and respond to these signals, we can proactively manage and limit the stressors in our lives, leading to a more joyful and fulfilling existence.
Love as a Spiritual Experience
The podcast explores the author's perspective on love, emphasizing that love is much more than a romantic relationship. It delves into the idea that love is a divine and spiritual aspect of our existence, which transcends the confines of earthly connections. The speaker advocates for stripping away the material experiences or expectations often associated with love and recognizing it as a universal force that is always present and accessible. By understanding love as an elemental part of our spiritual world, we can cultivate a deeper appreciation for its essence and experience its power in all aspects of life.
All this week, I'll be dropping the recordings of our How To Fail live shows, held at Shoredtich Town Hall earlier this year.
To kick off, I asked back one of our most cherished guests of all time: the inimitable Mo Gawdat. As regular listeners of How To Fail know, Mo first appeared on this podcast way back in season four. His interview blew my mind and changed how I lived my life. I asked him back during the first Covid-19 lockdown to help us navigate our way through the crisis. And now, here he is again: my very special friend, on how to handle anxiety, how to cope with grief (and keep on living through unimaginable loss), how to be happy and how to lean into love.
