Josh Lindblom on Mental Toughness and Long-Term Success in Professional Baseball

Dec 24, 2021
01:00:41

Throughout his 15 seasons in professional baseball, Josh Lindblom has learned that you have to find a way to differentiate yourself in the game.

After being drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft, Josh made his debut in 2011 and played for several organizations, including the Philadelphia Phillies, Oakland Athletics, and Texas Rangers.

He then had a five-year stint in South Korea, playing for the Doosan Bears and Lotte Giants, before signing with the Milwaukee Brewers organization in 2019.

But these experiences alone don’t separate Josh from other players—it’s his insight that sports aren’t about winning, but the process of self-discovery and formation.

Josh joins me today to share what success means to him and what it takes to pitch at the highest level of baseball.

He describes the mental aspect of professional baseball and shares how he has learned to control his emotions throughout his career.

And he also highlights the importance of knowing yourself as an athlete and person and underscores how he deals with the ups and downs of life.

Sports, like life, are just one big ebb and flow of failure and success. But the only time we ever truly fail is when we don’t learn from that experience. – Josh Lindblom
