Making local news pay: have independent US publishers found the formula for sustainability?

This week, Press Gazette's North America editor William Turvill interviews Chris Krewson, the executive director of LION Publishers, which represents more than 400 local independent online news startups across the US and Canada. LION recently reported figures showing that its average member increased their revenue by 33% to $125,000 last year. Krewson believes his members are forging a path to sustainability and that their emerging business models could represent the future of local news.
