Faith, Hope and Carnage is an extended conversation between Nick Cave and journalist Seán O'Hagan, created from over forty hours of intimate recordings. The book delves into Cave's life, from his early childhood to the present day, covering topics such as faith, art, music, freedom, grief, and love. It particularly reflects on the tragic death of Cave's son Arthur in 2015 and the subsequent period of grief and transformation. The conversations, which took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, offer candid insights into Cave's creative process, his struggles with addiction and Christianity, and his views on vulnerability, spirituality, and the healing power of human connection through art[2][4][5].

The Creative Act
A Way of Being
Rick Rubin
In *The Creative Act: A Way of Being*, Rick Rubin distills the wisdom he has gained from a lifetime of working with artists across various genres. The book is not just about music production but about the broader creative process and how it applies to everyone's life. Rubin emphasizes the importance of reconnecting with a state of innocence, being aware of the world, and tapping into what he calls 'Source'—an infinite and constant flow of ideas and inspiration. The book is structured around 78 areas of thought, providing practical wisdom, philosophical insights, and encouragement for anyone seeking to enhance their creative expression.
Principles
Ray Dalio
In 'Principles: Life and Work', Ray Dalio shares the principles he has developed over his career that have helped him achieve success. The book is divided into three sections: the first section explains how Dalio's principles were formed from his personal and professional experiences; the second section outlines life principles, such as embracing reality, being radically open-minded, and understanding the importance of pain and reflection in personal growth; and the third section focuses on work principles, including the use of radical truth and radical transparency to transform an organization. Dalio advocates for systematizing decision-making into algorithms, learning from failures, and building a culture where it is okay to make mistakes but unacceptable not to learn from them.

A Couple Quotes
"Much of this adult development work is about how people talk and think, or how they talk is supposed to reflect their thinking. But what about behaviors...how can we use virtual reality to put people into situations and see how they navigate that?"
"We're trying to capture reality in flight. Development is going on all the time, every day, and the stages are helpful to a point, but then they sort of get in the way of what's going on in someone's developmental trajectory."
