#54- My Eating Disorder Journey (with Natalie Collicutt)
Welcome back to another episode of TRM! This week, we are joined by Natalie Collicutt, a female soccer player at Laurentian University. Natalie shares how her eating disorder completely took over her own brain, affected her relationships, and negatively impacted her overall well-being. After struggling with body image for most of her life, she began actively restricting food intake and overexercising whenever she could, both as a result of heavy intrusive thoughts. However, she was in denial about her mental illness for quite some time and was able to play it off in front of loved ones, until she couldn't anymore. Natalie explains what her journey looked like, how her recovery started, and how the pressures of being a female athlete contributed to all of this. This conversation is informative, vulnerable, and relatable! TW: This episode talks about disordered eating, weight loss, overexercising, and negative body image.
