In this episode, I eagerly sit down with Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, CPT, and master of all things minerals, Margaret Barry.
Margaret's expertise in metabolic health, mineral balancing, and the body's fascial system is set apart from many, as she so passionately shares her knowledge regularly from her popular Instagram account @musclesandmotherhood, and works with clients one on one.
During this discussion, she gives us a legit, easy-to-understand lesson on minerals and how they influence every system in our body. She helps us understand how to assess our "levels" and how minerals need to be looked at in ratio to each other, as well their synergistic relationship to the vitamin family. She provides examples of specific imbalance patterns that she commonly sees in her practice, and touches on several "mineral misconceptions." We talk about types of testing, and how testing is definitely not for diagnostic purposes, but simply a tool to help paint a picture of what's going on in our body.
We also dive deep into the mineral dysregulation/stress connection, and how imbalances are still merely symptoms of a deeper-rooted mental/emotional issue. Margaret gives us a ton of information to digest in regards to the mind-body connection, and even gives us a beautiful breakdown on how stress/trauma, minerals, and fascia are all interconnected. She's so full of tips and supportive information, and at the end of the day, she wants us to remember that no body system works alone.
