David London (@deskboundtherapy) is a movement, flexibility and posture specialist who founded Deskbound Therapy to help others improve their flexibility, posture and overall reduce their pain.
David and I met at Othership in Toronto where David is continually becoming more involved in that community. Our conversation starts there and we discuss - yet again - the power of the heat, cold, and community that comes with it. We also draw some connections to mobility training and the overall physical health benefits that Othership provides.
Both David and I are big proponents of mobility training. That is, not just randomly stretching passively, but actually training mobility. This is easy, and actually is far more difficult and specific than you might think. David gave some great advice as we both shared personal stories of ourselves and clients on the why’s and how’s to train your mobility.
A deskbound lifter is someone who’s job requires them to sit at a desk, yet they love to lift and get after it. Naturally, sitting at a desk all day has it’s physical consequences. There are ways to offset this, and you might even say it’s necessary. In addition to the discussion in this episode, you can download David’s free Desk Mobility Routine to help you improve mobility right at your desk.
Be sure to follow David on IG and Youtube to keep up with everything he has coming up, including the resurgence of the Deskbound Therapy Podcast.
