Episode notes
Face Stability Isn’t The Holy Grail
- Rate of closure (face stability) intuitively matters but correlates very poorly with dispersion or handicap.
- Sasho found little to no correlation between face closing speed and shot grouping in large player datasets.
Use A Forward Press For Repeatability
- Use a small forward press or pressed/grip alignment to bias the putter toward pulling the center of mass and improve repeatability.
- Prefer pulling the putter (forward press) over pushing to reduce amplification of misalignment during the stroke.
Offset Shapes Aim More Than Stroke
- Putter offset mainly changes aim bias and setup, and that bias persists to impact.
- Offset can hide or wash out putter features that would otherwise influence stroke behavior.
