Marriage is tough. Some say second marriages are even tougher. The statistics seem to bear this out?

Second marriages are much more likely to end in divorce than first marriages. According to a report from the National Center for Health Statistics, 60% of second marriages end in divorce within 10 years compared to 40% of first marriages. Additionally, statistics show that one-third of all third marriages also end in divorce.

According to Gary Chapman, the key to making second marriages work is open and honest communication between both partners. He emphasizes the importance of couples taking the time to talk about their feelings, expectations, and experiences from their previous relationships in order for them to understand each other better. Additionally, he suggests that couples also take the time to learn about each other’s love languages as this can help facilitate better communication and understanding between them.
