The Incident Involving Claire Nowland

Claire Nowland, a 95-year-old resident of a nursing home, was fatally shot with a taser by police officer Christian White during a call about her behavior. On the night of May 17, she had been seen carrying a knife and had previously caused disturbances at the facility. When police arrived, they struggled to initially find her but eventually located her sitting calmly with her walking frame. Despite repeated requests for her to drop the knife, White deployed his taser, which resulted in her sustaining severe injuries and ultimately led to her death a week later due to bleeding in the brain.
