#26- Mental Health Education (with Stephen Liu)

Stephen Liu is a Mental Health Educator with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) York Region and South Simcoe. In today's episode, he tells us all about what his position entails, which includes going around to different schools/communities to present psycho-educational workshops about mental health and well-being. Stephen works with young people aged 12-24 and has a passion for listening to what they have to say while offering them solutions or coping strategies. After about 10 years in this role, he reflects on some of the trends that he has seen in youth mental health over the years, especially including the impacts that the recent pandemic has had. I feel very optimistic about the future after chatting with Stephen because it made me realize that there are steps being taken to prevent poor mental health and mental illness in youth.
