Sulla's Background and Political Career
Sulla's background in Roman politics was initially unremarkable. But after inheriting money, he had the means to pursue a political career. He became a Quaestor and served under Gaius Marius in the war against Jugurtha in Numidia. Sulla's successes during this time helped him rise in the ranks and gain recognition. He later played a significant role in the social war and became a powerful general in the Roman army.

Following his victory in the Civil War, Sulla was elected dictator with the intention of restoring the Roman Constitution.
