Sustainability Sunday: Sustainable Divestment

Hello Dolls, and welcome to another Sustainability Sunday. Can I quickly just say before we get into this weeks episode, that I am absolutely shooketh to my core at the amazing response I've received to these new episodes. I know they're a little bit left of centre and very different to what I normally do, but I am so damn thrilled that you've embraced sustainability in the same way that I have. Not only have you embraced it, but so many of you have joined the conversation and I've been overwhelmed - but in a good way - and all of your messages and tips. Quick shout out to the kween who recommended I watch The War on Waste, which is on ABC iview for those who are interested. I finally got around to it, and might I just say, it is phenom dot com. I was very late to the party, it's not a new series but it's still super interesting and I hope they bring out another season soon. So that's my recommendation for the week.  So with that, let's get into this weeks episode, which is all about divestment, which basically opens up a conversation around the concept of ethical and sustainable banking. Just as a way of background, if you have no idea what divestment means, it's pretty much the opposite of investment, so you take your money away or stop it from supporting investments you don't believe in, like coal mining and fossil fuels.  I am obviously no expert when it comes to divestment, so this week, I'm thrilled to welcome another guest who can far better explain it than I can - Lee Cnstable. Lee is a television presenter, science communicator, biologist and now also an author, whose best known for her work as a presenter on Channel 10's show Scope. She's started a youth-run radio show on sustainability and youth justice called SoapBox, has been on the world's largest all women expedition to Antartica and the biggest plot twist is, she's not even 30 yet... I know this will be hard for you to believe after that introduction I just gave, but Lee and I actually have a few things in common...
