Spotify adds video to Apple TV app

Spotify’s app on Apple TV didn’t, astonishingly, have any access to video podcasts: an oversight that has been fixed today: the tvOS app now includes them, more than a year after video podcasts were rolled-out to creators. The app also now includes Spotify DJ, a feature which was launched in Feb 2023. The company says the app has been entirely rewritten.

Amazon is to cut 14,000 corporate jobs, and has warned of further cuts next year. It’s yet another set of cuts for the company: just within podcasting, it had cut 110 jobs at Wondery in August; a “small number” at Wondery in March; and closed Wondery’s entire operations in Mexico and Brazil in February. The cuts were announced before affected employees were individually told; Amazon’s share price rose 1% on the news. Apparently AI will replace some of the roles, which will be lost across the business.

First look: Ankler Media will relaunch its flagship podcast tomorrow. Ankler Agenda is to be hosted by Elaine Low, who will be joined weekly by her Ankler colleagues Sean McNulty and Natalie Jarvey, as well as expert guests. It’s part of a renewed set of podcasts from the publisher.
