Episode #76. Interview with Hamish Thomson on driving change
In this episode Shelley speaks with "It's not always right to be right" author, Hamish Thomson, about leadership and driving change.
They talk about leaders when they first start out believing that, "to be successful they need to be right". While most leaders self-correct over time, the worst leaders are one's that don't. They end up being the most opinionated where people don’t like to challenge them, so they rarely get the feedback they need to drive sustainable change.
Hamish shares that crucial conversations are most effective when the other person knows you care. It is through true care, empathy and genuinely wanting to support them that you see the best outcomes.
In his book he offers messages, practical steps, and strategic frameworks that help to drive this change at an individual, team and organisational level.
