Lupus is an autoimmune disease that sees the individual’s immune system become hyperactive and attack healthy tissue. Dr. Goldner has often talked about how it affected her life. When Brooke was 16, she was was in stage 4 kidney failure due to a serious case of Lupus. She was initially told she had six months to live.
