Today’s topic is all about zero waste shopping regarding food consumption. One of the things you notice when you walk into Trader Joe’s is how much plastic there is. Following a Greenpeace petition to eliminate their plastic usage, Trader Joe’s will be eliminating a million pounds of plastic from their stores. Buying in bulk can be sustainable if you meal plan, utilize reusable containers, and eat the leftovers. Later, Laura and Liza discuss armchair activism and local farmer’s markets.
