Dr. Kristen Willeumier (@kwilleumier) conducted her graduate research in the laboratory of Neurophysiology at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the laboratory of Neurogenetics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She received MS degrees in Physiological science and Neurobiology and a Ph.D. degree in Neurobiology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She was a postdoctoral scientist in the Department of Neurology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she continued her work in the field of neurodegenerative disease.
She was the recipient of a National Research Service Award Fellowship from the National Institutes of Health and has presented her work internationally.
Having served as the Director of Neuroimaging Research for the Amen Clinics, she led the efforts in utilizing imaging technologies to understand the neurobiological correlates underlying psychiatric disorders.
In this capacity, she oversaw many pioneering studies, including a clinical research trial investigating the long-term effects of repetitive subconcussive impacts in National Football League players, and developed a protocol to successful reverse brain damage and improve cognitive health!
Dr. Willeumier is widely published in peer-reviewed journals including The Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, Translational Psychiatry, and The Journal of Neuroscience.
