S2, E5: Beating the Odds and Building Self-Belief (with Michael Brovac)
This week on The Revolutionized Mind, we are joined by Michael Brovac! In this episode, Michael shares his story of being diagnosed with a rare disease when he was only 12 weeks old. This disease, called IPEX Syndrome, involves immunodeficiency that landed Michael in the hospital for the majority of his first 18 years of life. His younger brother, Cameron, was also diagnosed at an early age which at the time, made them only 2/50 known cases worldwide. Unfortunately, Cameron passed away at the age of 10 and Michael wanted to give up on his own fight. Then, he met someone who significantly impacted his life for the better. Right before he went into emergency surgery, he was pushed to think about things differently. Everything changed from that day forward. He changed his perspectives, he started actually believing in himself, and he learned how to live a full life despite what people told him. Now, he’s a speaker and coach who aims to inspire others along their own journeys. We discuss what it felt like to be "the sick kid", the role his parents and support system have played throughout his life, and the importance of finding your purpose. This conversation is extremely inspiring and eye-opening!
