Deep dives
Adapting and Growing Together
Despite previous challenges working together, the last 12 months have been a source of pride for me and my partner, as we successfully navigated the chaos and uncertainties of expanding our business, finding a new house, and preparing for the arrival of our baby. We have learned to work together effectively, communicate better, and support each other. It has been a period of growth, maturity, and a solidification of our relationship.
Focus on In-Person Coaching
In the coming year, I plan to prioritize coaching more in-person clients. While workshops will still be part of the plan, the focus will be on fewer workshops to allow for a better balance between professional and personal life. Additionally, there are plans to release a new program, potentially focusing on hip and groin training, and to continue building a new gym while hiring a staff member to replace my partner. Stability and continuity will be key as we enter this new chapter.
Reflecting on the Journey and Celebrating Small Victories
As I reflect on the past year, I am proud of how my partner and I have dealt with the challenges and uncertainties that have come our way. We have managed to navigate through the chaos of starting a family, relocating our business, and juggling different responsibilities while maintaining a strong relationship. Celebrating small victories like successful workshops, program sales, and personal growth has fueled our motivation and reinforced our belief in what we have created together.
A Focus on Personal and Professional Growth
Looking ahead to 2024, I am excited to focus on personal and professional growth. With the arrival of our baby, ensuring a healthy work-life balance will be a priority. This includes coaching in-person clients, releasing new programs, and delivering select workshops. The aim is to continue learning and refining my craft while creating a stable foundation for our business and personal life. Through it all, the focus remains on inspiring curiosity, positivity, and success in the fitness industry.
Reflecting on Skill Development and Coaching
The podcast episode delves into the speaker's interest in skill development and coaching. They express their passion for skill acquisition, movement, and the concept of emergent behavior in sports. The speaker highlights the importance of understanding the patterns of play and creating a mental model for athletes. They also discuss the challenges that some former athletes face when transitioning into coaching roles, often overlooking the intricacies of their success and lacking empathy for players with different skill levels. Overall, the episode emphasizes the speaker's desire to become a sports coach and their commitment to continuous learning and positive coaching methods.
Navigating the Impact of Social Media
The episode also touches on the speaker's reflection on their engagement with social media and its impact on mental health. They express the negative influence of being pulled into negative discussions and adopting a critical mindset. The speaker recognizes the importance of taking responsibility for the content they put out and aims to bring positivity, both for themselves and for others. They share their realization of the potential long-term consequences of becoming increasingly negative over time and express a desire to focus on the good in the industry rather than fixating on the negatives. The episode concludes with a discussion about personal growth and the impact of social media on self-perception and authenticity.
Originally an athlete himself, he was plagued with pain and injuries, and became very frustrated with the traditional “solutions” that were being offered.
Deciding to take matters into his own hands, David spent over 10 years travelling the world, learning from some of the best minds in the industry.
It became very clear to him that the traditional rehab model of isolated stretching and strengthening was a very poor and inefficient way of helping people.
David has developed his own unique method of helping people with their pain and movement, and he now works with clients from all walks of life.
He regularly rehabs some of the the best athletes in the world, has delivered workshops and seminars internationally, and regularly consults with top Coaches & Therapists to help them get even better results with their own clients.
