In 'De Kleine Prins' ontmoet een piloot na een noodlanding in de woestijn een vreemd klein mannetje van een verre planeet. Door de ogen van de kleine prins ontdekken we een wereld vol fantasie, vreemde planeten en bijzondere bewoners. Het verhaal is een diepe, poëtische fabel over vriendschap, liefde, verantwoordelijkheid en het belang van het onzichtbare. Het boek spreekt zowel kinderen als volwassenen aan en blijft een tijdloos klassiek werk.

De vriendschap is een roman uit 2005 van de Nederlandse schrijfster Connie Palmen. Het verhaal gaat over twee jeugdvriendinnen, de nuchtere Maria en de dromerige Elisabeth, en hun levenslange vriendschap. Door de ogen van Maria volgen we hun wederwaardigheden, hun successen en hun teleurstellingen. De roman is een ode aan de vriendschap, maar ook een reflectie op de vergankelijkheid van het leven.

De aanslag, published in 1982, is a novel by Harry Mulisch that tells the story of Anton Steenwijk, a 12-year-old boy whose life is drastically changed when his family is killed by the Nazis in retaliation for the execution of a collaborator. The novel spans several decades, from 1945 to 1981, and follows Anton's quest to understand the events of that fateful night. Through various encounters, Anton gradually uncovers the truth about the assault and its aftermath, grappling with moral ambiguity and the lasting impact of the war on his life. Published in 1949, '1984' is a cautionary tale by George Orwell that explores the dangers of totalitarianism. The novel is set in a dystopian future where the world is divided into three super-states, with the protagonist Winston Smith living in Oceania, ruled by the mysterious and omnipotent leader Big Brother. Winston works at the Ministry of Truth, where he rewrites historical records to conform to the Party's ever-changing narrative. After the rebellion, the animals rename the farm 'Animal Farm' and establish a utopian society based on the principles of equality and solidarity, known as Animalism. However, as time passes, the pigs, led by Napoleon and Snowball, consolidate power and gradually corrupt the original ideals, leading to a dystopian regime that mirrors the oppressive human rule they initially rebelled against. The novel critiques totalitarianism and the corrupting nature of power, reflecting Orwell's experiences and views on the Soviet Union under Stalin's rule.
